Yoga Is Science

The Podcast That Bridges Ancient Wisdom + Modern Understanding

Yoga is not just movement. It is a system. A science. A way of understanding the human experience.

For years, yoga has been simplified into poses, flexibility, and aesthetics.
But underneath the surface… Yoga has always been a technology of the body, mind, and nervous system.
And now, science is finally catching up.

Welcome to the Yoga Is Science Podcast

Inside each episode, you’ll explore:

• The nervous system and how it shapes your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors
• Yogic philosophy like the Kleshas, Samskaras, and the 8 Limbs
• Breathwork and pranayama through a physiological lens
• Meditation as a tool for awareness and subconscious rewiring
• The connection between ancient teachings and modern science

This is where Eastern philosophy meets Western understanding.

Not watered down. Not overly mystical.
Just real, embodied knowledge you can actually use.

Why This Matters

Most people are living in patterns they don’t understand.

Stress. Anxiety. Overthinking. Emotional reactivity.

Yoga explains why this happens.
Science shows us how it happens.

When you bring the two together, something powerful occurs:

👉 You stop guessing
👉 You start understanding
👉 You begin to shift

Meet Colynn Cespedes

Yoga Educator

Colynn is not just a yoga teacher.

She is a former ER nurse with 17 years of medical experience, who left the traditional system to teach yoga full time.

She has:

• Taught over 20,000 students worldwide
• Led more than 250+ 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings
• Trained and mentored yoga teachers across the globe
• Built trauma-informed, inclusive, body-aware programs

Her approach is different.

She doesn’t teach yoga as performance.
She teaches yoga as function, feeling, and nervous system awareness.

A More Grounded Way to Teach Yoga

Inside Colynn’s world, yoga is:

• Functional, not aesthetic
• Inclusive, not exclusive
• Felt, not forced
• Science-backed, not blindly followed

Her teacher trainings go beyond poses.

They help you understand:

• Why bodies move differently
• How trauma impacts the nervous system
• How to create safe, regulated spaces
• How to teach in a way that actually supports healing

Understanding the Nervous System

At the core of everything is this:

👉 Your nervous system shapes your experience of life.

It determines:

• Whether you feel safe or overwhelmed
• Whether you can relax or stay stuck in stress
• How you respond to challenges
• How your body holds onto past experiences

Yoga, when taught properly, becomes a tool for regulation.

Not just stretching.

Not just strengthening.

But rewiring patterns held in the body.

What is Somatic Yoga?

Somatic yoga brings awareness back to the internal experience of the body.

Instead of focusing on what a pose looks like… It focuses on what it feels like.

This approach:

• Helps release stored tension and emotional patterns
• Supports nervous system regulation
• Builds deeper body awareness
• Creates sustainable, long-term change

This is where yoga becomes transformational.
